About Spicy Soup
Kenny Johnston started Spicy Soup in 1993. the band has played at various clubs, private parties,
concerts and special events all over the state. Some of the recent clubs and events Spicy Soup has played at in Colorado
Springs include The Coffee Warehouse, Morelli's, The Park Plaza Hotel, The HBA MAME, Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society Jazz
in the Park Series, Bada Bing's, SODO's, SouthSide Johnny's, The Summer Brown Bag Jazz Series and Spring Spree.
Kenny's vision for the band is to create contemporary jazz music, which encompasses sounds of smooth
jazz, worldbeat rhythms and latin flavors. Spicy Soup should not be pigeonholed into any one specific category of music
but celebrated as a diverse, talented group of musicians making music from the heart. The sounds of Spicy Soup are met
to create an enjoyable listening experience for everyone!
Kenny enjoys entertaining any crowd he performs to. He interacts with the crowd to get them
involved in the spirit of the show. With almost 25 years of professional experience, Kenny knows how to perform.
In fact, Kenny's ability to play with great passion and to perform with such vigor won him Denver's KHIH Contemporary Smooth
Jazz Band honors for the year 2000!
Spicy Soup is focused on providing quality entertainment and works hard to "PLAY TO THE CROWD".
Kenny knows the importance of not only providing appropriate and quality music for the occassion but, he also knows how to
monitor volume and constantly works with the booking party to make sure everything is appropriate.
Finally, Spicy Soup is an independent artist group. The band produces and sells their original music.
